Deleting your WhaleWatch account or data
Last updated 5 Nov 2026
WhaleWatch is Mobiddiction's whale sighting app, built and run by Mobiddiction Pty Ltd. You can delete your account in the app. If you can't open the app, our support team will do it for you. It's free.
Delete your account
In the app, open Me, then Account, then Delete my account, and confirm. Your name, email address and password are removed straight away, and you can't sign in with that account again. To use WhaleWatch with an account, register a new one.
If you no longer have the app, raise a ticket, using the same email address as your WhaleWatch account. You don't need an account on this site. Title it Delete my WhaleWatch account. We reply to that email address to confirm the request is yours. Answer that email and we do the rest, within 30 days of your confirmation, usually much sooner.
What we delete
Your name, email address, password and profile, including your profile photo.
Your devices and notification settings.
Photos you uploaded to the gallery.
Any trusted-spotter status on the account.
What we keep
Published sightings stay on the map, with nothing that identifies you. They're no longer connected to any account. Photos you shared with a published sighting stay with that sighting.
Your support ticket is kept as a record of the request, with your name and email address removed.
Copies in our routine backups are removed as those backups expire.
Delete some of your data and keep your account
In the app you can remove a photo you added to the gallery, remove your profile photo, or withdraw a sighting that hasn't been published yet.
For anything else, raise a ticket from your WhaleWatch email address, titled Delete some of my WhaleWatch data. Tell us what to remove. We confirm by email, then remove it within 30 days. A published sighting stays on the map; we remove what identifies you, and the sighting itself remains.
Get a copy of your data
In the app, open Me, then Account, then Download my data. You get your profile, your sightings and the photos you shared.
Or raise a ticket the same way, titled Copy of my WhaleWatch data. We send it within 30 days.
