Deleting your FishSmart NSW account or data
Last updated 20 Oct 2026
FishSmart NSW is the NSW Government's recreational fishing app, published by the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). Mobiddiction builds and runs it for DPIRD. In the current version of the app, our support team handles account and data deletion for you. It's free.
Delete your account
- Raise a ticket, using the same email address as your FishSmart account. You don't need an account on this site.
- Title it Delete my FishSmart account.
- We reply to that email address to confirm the request is yours. Answer that email and we do the rest.
We delete your account within 30 days of your confirmation, usually much sooner, and email you when it's done. After that you can't sign in. To use FishSmart again, register a new account.
What we delete
- Your name, email address, password and profile details, including your profile photo.
- Your devices and notification settings.
- Photos you uploaded.
What we keep
- Catch records (species, size, date and place) are kept for NSW fisheries management, with nothing that identifies you. They're no longer connected to any account.
- Your support ticket is kept as a record of the request, with your name and email address removed.
- Copies in our routine backups are removed as those backups expire.
Delete some of your data and keep your account
Raise a ticket from your FishSmart email address, titled Delete some of my FishSmart data. Tell us what to remove, such as particular catches, photos or your profile photo. We confirm by email, then remove it within 30 days.
Get a copy of your data
Raise a ticket the same way, titled Copy of my FishSmart data. We send you your profile details and catch records within 30 days.
When the new version of FishSmart NSW is released, you'll be able to do this in the app, and we'll update this page.
